Cloud revolution in manufacturing with SAP DM
SAP DM (Digital Manufacturing) provides the visionary baseline for a digital factory, focusing on the execution, data analysis, control and integration of manufacturing processes. And the best part: it‘s completely cloud-based.
io’s experts established that MD ELEKTRONIK was the perfect candidate for the new software. As one of the first SAP partners ever, io carried out a respective case study in 2021, putting MD ELEKTRONIK under the microscope and monitoring their ongoing processes for a whole month using SAP DM.
Digital customization: pioneering process optimization project
The case study answered questions such as: What are the current processes? What should the processes ideally look like? Where are the missing gaps? And how can these gaps be filled? The “Discover and Explore” procedure continuously reviews the market. Even though this follows an established framework, each client is considered individually and the result is tailor-made to that particular client.
This project was pioneering in every sense. Not only was it new territory for MD ELEKTRONIK, but it was in fact one of the first DM projects carried out anywhere.

Everything from the cloud
SAP DM allows for complete production management with no separate server needed. It facilitates extremely agile use of resources – within resource planning, for example. SAP DM provides great flexibility in case of unexpected machine downtimes or unscheduled staff absence and makes it possible to quickly fine-tune fully utilized capacities or overlaps.
SAP’s development department was directly involved in the project due to its innovative nature. This was an added benefit to the client, as they had a significant impact on the refinement and advancement of the solution.
