Expertise in sensitive systems

Expertise is essential when working with explosives. Consistent professional development is therefore indispensable. In this regard, io collaborates with the Dresden School of Explosives and participates in state-approved training courses that provide the essential foundation for work in the field of explosives technology. Participation requires specific qualifications: technical training, practical experience in handling explosives, and an official certificate of good standing.

Technically sound

io continuously expands its understanding of explosive-related issues and regulatory requirements. This knowledge is directly incorporated into the planning process, enabling the company to implement projects involving explosive-processing facilities in a technically sound and compliant manner.

Effective Distances

For example, in the case of plant expansions or changes in explosive quantities, the so-called mass-distance analysis is significant. It describes the safety-related relationship between the quantity of an existing explosive and the required distance to other buildings or facilities. It is a decisive factor in the early stages of site development. After all, mistakes made during this phase often lead to significant design changes or schedule risks.

This is exactly where io comes in. Through early analysis of safety distances, the structured

siting of new buildings, and coordination with authorities - including the Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing (BAM) - io supports clients developing projects in the explosives sector. And for the computational modeling of explosion scenarios, io collaborates with the Fraunhofer Institute for Transient Dynamics, the Ernst Mach Institute. These collaborations are part of an integrated planning approach in which simulation results, structural engineering, and architecture are considered together from the very beginning. This allows project risks to be identified early on and interfaces with testing engineers or authorities to be managed effectively.
